Hello Teachers!,


My aim in this page is to provide you with information on how to make our children interested
in Mathematics. In addition to providing you with this information I have also provided you with
links to other sites on the Internet where you may learn this rather complicated but seemingly simple
task. It is indeed a combination of both your help and the parent's help that the child will be
positioned for a better and more technologically challenging tommorrow. (since the children of today
are the leaders of tommorrow)

This Week's Tip - Checklist for Planning a learning environment!!
Check if you have planned for:
- experiences based on the student's interests and areas of strength?.
- activities that engage students in exploration and experimentation?.
- allowing students to set personal goals for learning?.
- helping students to assess their short term accomplishments and reach their goals?.
- the encouragement and praise of students' efforts and accomplishments?.
- the use of modelling as a teaching tool?.
- the presentation of open-ended questions?.
- the encouragement of student-generated questions?.
- problem-solving activities that tap into different modalities/ look at problems from
different perspectives?.
- cooperative learning activities during instructional time?.
- incorporating each student's own culture and experience into the curriculum?.
- the use of manipulatives and hand-on activities?.
- the development of and implementation of thematic units?.
- activities that connect the classroom with the family and community?.

Since the students have different learning styles, it is our duty as teachers to see
that we vary the teaching style to suite the learning style of each individual child by employing
the multiple intelligences.
